Our Principles
A short manifesto in two chapters — the compass that points us, and the six values that keep the needle steady.
Vision & Mission
"A just, self-reliant, and value-based society."
Every person thriving physically, economically, socially, and spiritually.
"To empower vulnerable communities through sustainable development inspired by Catholic Social Teaching."
Rooted in Gospel values and a deep belief in integral human development.
"A Church without charity does not exist."
Pope Francis
Caritas Nairobi is the institutionalisation of that love — the social development arm of the Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi, governed by the Archbishop, a Board of Trustees, and a professional Lay Board of Directors.
Six Values That Guide Us
In the order they shape a decision — from how we hold resources, to who we stand beside, to the doctrine that grounds it all.
Stewardship
Responsible and transparent management of every resource entrusted to us — financial, human, and environmental.
Solidarity
Standing as one with the poor and marginalised — walking alongside communities rather than simply serving them from a distance.
Human Dignity
Upholding the inherent worth and respect of every person made in the image of God, regardless of background, faith, or circumstance.
Fairness
Promoting justice and equity in all interventions — ensuring that programmes reach those most in need, without discrimination.
Catholic Social Teaching
Our work is firmly rooted in the Church's social doctrine — the option for the poor, subsidiarity, the common good, and integral human development.
Ecumenism & Inclusion
While Catholic in identity, we serve all people regardless of faith, ethnicity, or social status — embodying the universal love at the heart of our mission.
